The iTero digital impression system eliminates many unfavorable factors that are often experienced with traditional impression-making, such as errors in tray selection, short working time, patient movement, tearing and deformation of the impression during removal, and dimensional instability of the set impression. The iTero scanner does not expose you to any sort of radiation and is completely safe. It ensures a more accurate impression from the start, resulting in improved treatment and comfortable, improved patient experience.
How Does the iTero Work?
The iTero scanner uses the latest optical technology to digitally capture the structure of your teeth and gums. The scanner is a compact and easy-to-use, hand-held wand. During the examination and scanning process, it can be started and stopped as needed.
First, your mouth is scanned through a radiation-free laser for about two to three minutes. The laser creates a digitally perfect, 3D impression of your teeth, gums, and soft tissue structures. Then, you will be able to view a 3D model of your teeth on a computer screen. After thorough examination of the scans, your orthodontist will determine the course of treatment you require.
